How many of the people you consider friends, truly care about you? How many encourage you in your visions and dreams, and are there for you when you hit a wall? If we’re honest, most of us would have to concede that a significant number of so-called friends and associates aren’t there for us in a pinch. In fact, many of the people we spend time with are time-wasters who drain our energy and trivialize our dreams. In the Old Testament David and Jonathan were willing to lay down their lives for each other. And Ruth told Naomi, “Wherever you go, I will go” (Ru 1:16 NKJV). Do you have friends like that? If not, spend more time cultivating relationships with those who genuinely care about you; who don’t feel threatened by your success and want to see you succeed. Focusing on your partner’s flaws doesn’t help either of you. The Pharisees saw only the worst in the woman caught in adultery. Jesus didn’t minimise her sin, but chose to see what she could become through grace. ‘I don’t condemn you. Go, and stop what you’re doing’ (John 8:11). Grace enables you to see beyond your spouse’s upsetting ways and work with God in helping them become the ‘new creature’ He’s called them to be. 2) Celebrate them. Too often we try to impose on our spouse our desired image of them. We resent them and insist they change, see it our way, and do things to our required standard. If they don’t, we think they’re inconsiderate, unloving, and even un-Christian. Grace doesn’t operate that way! It understands, accepts, forgives, and leaves changing others up to God. Do you know GOD has a mirror? Yes HE does. The law of GOD is like a mirror. When we look into the law of God we see our deficiencies and we are directed to Jesus Christ for GRACE to be cleansed by the power of HIS blood. Without this, mirror, it will be difficult to see our true state. No wonder David said in Psalms 19:7 that: The law of the LORD is perfect, CONVERTING the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. Delight in the law of the LORD; and meditate on it every day and night. (Ps 1:2) and you shall be BLESSED beyond curse.
